Te / て form

The te form is used in a lot of things.

Conjugation rules

Ichidan verbs

Drop the る and add て. Examples:

• 食べる → 食べて
• 起きる → 起きて

Godan verbs

Depends on the ending but always drop the last mora and replace with something ending in て or で

Last mora	Replace with	Example
す	して	話して
く、ぐ	いて、いで	書いて、泳いで
む、ぶ、ぬ	んで	読んで、遊んで、死んで
る、う、つ	って	切って、買って、持って

Exceptions

• する → して
• 来る → 来て「きて」
• 行く → 行って
